Fleas and ticks are very harmful to your pets and can be transmitted to you and your family. In order to prevent the various harmful diseases carried by these pests, please consider the following tips:
- Prevent flea and tick bites by applying appropriate treatments such as sprays, dusts, collars or topical treatments containing Fipronil, Pyrethroids, or Amitraz.
- Check your pet for ticks each time you come in from outdoors. Especially if you have been walking through grassy or wooded areas.
- Ask your veterinarian to show you how to identify and safely remove ticks.
- Treat your pet immediately for flea infestations to prevent illness.
Remember, fleas and ticks are happy to live in your home on your carpet, sofa or bed if brought inside by hitching a ride with you or your pet. Once there they can bite/infest the entire family. So please check yourself and your pets before going indoors.
Depending where you live, the life cycle can be year-round. The warmer the geographical area the longer the season for activity.
